“ Grant, we beseech thee, Almighty God, that as we do believe thy only-begotten Son our Lord Jesus Christ to have ascended into heaven, so we may also in heart and mind thither ascend, and with him continually dwell; who liveth and reigneth with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. • The collect for the Feast of the Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Book of Common Prayer. Compline for Ascension Day will be sung by the Saint Francis Choir at 8 o’clock tonight at Saint Francis Church, Potomac. The Feast of the Ascension, one of the five great feasts of the Christian kalendar, celebrates the bodily elevation of Christ into heaven in the presence of his disciples on the fortieth day after his Resurrection. It is narrated in Mark 16: 19, Luke 24: 51, and in the first chapter of the Acts of the Apostles.
